In this episode, we explore the inner world of the feature film editor. Guest Susan Littenberg shares working with directors like Jim Jarmusch, Ang Lee, Steven Soderbergh, and Gary Winick. She also talks about her transition from editing to teaching film.
Susan Littenberg has been an Editor on over 15 feature films, including 13 Going on 30, CHARLOTTE’S WEB, and EVERYTHING IS GOING FINE, directed by Steven Soderbergh. She was nominated for an ACE award for EASY A. Susan also edited the Sundance award-winning music doc THE BALLAD OF RAMBLIN’ JACK. As an Assistant editor, she worked with Jim Jarmusch, Hal Hartley, Ang Lee, and Paul Auster. Susan was a Producer on the award-winning corporate musicals documentary BATHTUBS OVER BROADWAY.
Susan was on the IDA episodic jury for 2019 and has been a juror for the Big Sur International Film Series since 2008 and the Film One Festival since 2012. She has taught editing at The Edit Center in New York, the Maine International Film Workshops, the City College of New York, AFI, and she currently teaches at UCLA.
