Description

In this episode, we explore the job of the editor and making seamless cuts so the audience is never taken out of the film experience.  My guest is editor Gregg Stouffer, who edited the award-winning documentary Mary Janes: The Women of Weed, as well as, reality TV shows Making Monsters, Building Alaska, and Monogamy.  He was also one of the editors for the Beijing Olympic Winter Games 2022 and most recently A Long Match a feature film documentary on Filipinos in World War II.

Gregg has done darn near everything in production. His career was off to a ripping start at the age of 15 when he won his first festival title and has continued over the years with other accolades including awards from MTV, Emmy, and Telly. He has been pecked by angry chickens while on set for Willie Nelson and set lions loose on a car lot with an NFL quarterback. Yes, in his career he has worked on countless productions in film and television, but all antics aside, he is most revered for his acumen in storytelling through directing and editing. To say that Gregg is a visionary is the least that could be said. And he does a killer Wookie impersonation.

How do you incorporate gender parity, social justice, and environmental sustainability into your work and the growth of your business/organization?

I have always longed for a day — to paraphrase the words of Martin Luther King, Jr. — that we will all be judged by the content of our character, and not by the content of our undergarments.
