A simple idea, but one that we should all take seriously as we move through our week.

Transcript:

Good morning, defenders. Happy Monday. I wanna talk to you guys about something that actually has a very close place in my heart. You could argue that this was the first, Christian movement that I ever considered that I ever contemplated. Um, it was probably the first draw that I ever had to anything that you could argue is ministry. It was very, very early on in my, uh, religious career, I guess you could say. And it's a very simple notion and it's, it's the question, you know, it's the question that I think is a better biblical representation of the idea of the, what would Jesus do movement. I think there's a better question that we could ask ourselves. And that's the question of, do you glow? See, The narrative is something like this; When life is hard, when things are difficult, when it is dark and we are going through something that is Painful. Well, those times kind of work as amplifiers. They work as megaphones in our life where other people Start really leaning in and by other people I'm specifically talking about, non-believers see, they listen to you. If you're doing your job as a, a Christian, if you're building the kingdom, if you are bearing the fruit that I follow of Christ would bear, then the non-believers in your life have been listening to you spend so much time talking about the light of the world and now things are dark.

And so they're gonna be leaning in. They're gonna be watching you cuz they're curious if you spend all this time talking about the lie of the world, do you glow in the dark? See Jesus Christ is the light of the world In the beginning was the word. The word was with God. The word was God. He was with God in the beginning, through him, all things were made without him Nothing was made that has been made in him was life. And that light was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. That's John one, one through five in the NIV translation. And that we get that Jesus Christ is the light of all mankind and the darkness cannot overcome that light. Well, we as Christians, our goal is to be Christlike. That's what the word Christian means. It means Christ like. One of our, one of our goals is to be a better reflection of Christ. And that's an ample definition of the sanctification process. And we are all going on our own journey of the sanctification process, becoming more Christlike, becoming better reflections of Christ, which means inherently if Christ is the light of the world and we're reflecting that light that we should glow.

What it does mean to glow. Well, we could argue that what it means a glow is to be an adequate reflection of Christ's love to be an adequate reflection of Christ's character. So I think I, I personally, I think there's, there's hardship that comes with the question. What would Jesus do? I don't think it's the most, the properly asked the question cuz yes, he is fully man. He's also fully God. So it's hard to know what Jesus would do in any one moment. It's hard to know what is truly how the son of man would act, but it's not nearly as difficult to ask myself, do I glow? Am I being an adequate reflection of Christ? Am I being more Christlike than not? And I think it grounds it. I think it makes it a little bit more realistic.
