Sometimes the best way to get a desired result is to forget about the result and learn to desire the process.

Good morning defenders, and welcome to the defenders digest. We come to you every single Monday morning. So you can start off your week in a better mindset, more oriented to God so that you can be focused and refocus. We can consider the defenders digest to be a time of, of meditation, a time of devotion, something simple that you can do while driving on your way to work. It's meant to be a couple minutes long. So it doesn't take your entire day, but it is meant to be something that can help reorient your life to be focusing on the things that we know that we're supposed to be focusing on. Just like everything we do at the defender's academy, everything that we do is to the glory of God for the glory of God. So today I want to talk to you guys about a conversation that I had with my wife recently, where I kind of had a epiphany.

What you may not know about me is that in a prior life, we should say, when I was a teenager 16, I actually won a national martial arts tournament. I spent from the ages of 12 to 18 devoted, heavily devoted to martial arts. I did Brazilian jujitsu won a national Brazilian jujitsu tournament called NGA, I was in Mui Thai. I've done a kickboxing fight and actually training for that kickboxing fight. I injured my sciatic nerve ending my martial arts career. My goal at the time in my life was that I was going to become a professional MMA fighter or at least go as far as I've possibly could in MMA, not because I expected to get into the UFC and make millions fighting, but because my goal was to after I got, as far as I could get open my own gym and train others and be able to say, this is my pedigree.

That was the mindset of the time. Um, so I was tell with my wife about life sharing stories, talking about our pasts. And I had this epiphany that, I mean, I've always known that, I was in the best physical shape of my life right around when I was training for that kickboxing fight right around when I won that national tournament, that was 16 to 18. That was a sweet spot. The national tournament I won at 16, the kickboxing fight was at 18 and I was in really, really good shape. And well, I've always been aware of that, but the epiphany was that I've tried many, many times in my life to get into shape and I've had varying degrees of success. And well, during that part of my life, when I was in the best shape that I've ever been in, I didn't have the goal of getting into shape.
