On today's episode of The Momlife Mindset podcast, I share more about the window of tolerance and how it plays a massive role in learning more about our stress levels, boundaries and how we are "triggered" in our day to day life. We all have triggers. It's inevitable as a human. Pair that with motherhood and the responsibility of taking care of a household and it becomes more and more important to dig into self-awareness when it comes to our mental and emotional well-being.
Hyper-arousal is the state when we're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, angry, about to explode, etc. Hypo-arousal is when we're tired, numb, emotionally checked out, mentally burned out, etc. The most interesting component about the window is that stress and trauma causes our window to shrink, which means our tolerance to stay in our grounded, calm, peaceful state is harder to manage.
Above all - I want you to know you're not alone when it comes to unpacking and learning more about the mental and emotional component to our health. Learning about the window is a HUGE visual piece to knowing our needs and working to implement the boundaries, habits and coping skills that work for us as individuals. My encouragement to you is - don't be afraid to dig in. We are ALL imperfect beings, just learning to do our best, who are triggered into different emotional states for all kinds of reasons. The more aware you become, the more you can valuable skills that will help you stay inside your window as often as possible throughout day to day life.
