On today's episode of The Momlife Mindset Podcast - let's talk MAY and Mental Health Awareness Month! Every year, I've been doing a give-back campaign to different mental health organizations in an effort to bring awareness to this topic and spread the word about the importance of normalizing discussion and breaking the stigma.
This year - I will be doing a give-back on Bonfire.com (https://www.bonfire.com/mha-2023/). with all proceeds going back to Mental Health America. I encourage you to research the theme that MHA is promoting this year - "Look Around, Look Within". I will be cross-sharing their important tips, tricks, information and ways to get involved. They're also partnering up with LL Bean to promote 500,000 hours of OUTSIDE time! Why? Because getting outside is SO GOOD for our mental health. Participants are encouraged to go outdoors and log hours of fresh air. You can learn more about the challenge here: https://mhanational.org/llbean.
In addition to the information above - another important discussion I want to bring to your attention is listed below:
For Maternal Mental Health Week (May 1-5) Gemma is going LIVE on Instagram with @shannonrwatts and @poojalakshmin on May 5th at 10:00 am ET.
Shannon Watts is the Founder of Moms Demand Action and they will be discussing maternal mental health in America and how to take care of yourself when the world is too much. I shared more of my heart a few weeks ago about the senseless violence in our country and how it all feels like too much. This will be a GREAT mental health conversation to tune into for more perspective and powerful thoughts.
Throughout the month of May - I will be sharing as much as I can from my personal experience, but also other important conversations, articles and information being shared all over the map. as we As a mom of 4 and woman who has managed my own level of mental health struggles in my life - I want to be a voice that shares "it's okay to not be okay" and it's OKAY to reach out for help, support and resources to help you. The more we share our stories and talk about the things we manage mentally and emotionally - the more we normalize the big, deep feelings we have as humans. Please know you are never alone.
I'd love to hear from you and connect further on our stories. If you found this episode valuable, please leave a review, comment below and/or send me a message anytime so we can continue the conversation.
