Today, one of the things I want to talk about that's helped me improve my vision is just the simple fact that I am at an event continuing my education. And it's so, it's like I'm going back to school, right? And I get my name badge and it says Drew Davis, Freshman. Um, I kinda chuckled about that. Yeah. Because it's been a long time since I was a freshman, a freshman in high school, freshman in college, a freshman in anything... but a freshman, and just the sound of it, a fresh man, you know, fresh to whatever realm I'm being exposed to. You know, when you're a freshman in high school, you're the smallest kid on campus.
Typically you're just looking up and seeing nothing but giants. Right? And then, you know, you're a freshman in college, you see people that have a plan for their life and some direction and a major. When I was a freshman, it's like I had a major picked out, but all I knew is I wanted to be rich when I grew up. So I just picked what seemed like the best thing that my parents guided me on, that was going to, you know, get me that good paying job and all that sort of thing. And away I went, right? But now as I look at this tag and it says Drew Davis - Freshman. I sit there and think about that because, this program that I'm a part of, you know, it's a newer program and it's still being built out. So there's not a graduating class yet, it's full of freshmen and sophomores, and I kid you not, the idea of being a freshman, you know, it's like,,, WOW, I'm at the bottom of the totem pole!
Again, it's like I'm learning and having to understand and respect the position that I'm in. Meaning that typically the freshman doesn't have it all figured out. Traditionally, the freshmen has got some learning to do. So the idea of being a freshman for all of us can have us thinking, "man, you know, sophomore year, junior year, senior year, the road to graduation is so, sooooo long," but so is the journey of anything worthwhile of achieving in life, right? I mean, you can think back to high school, you can think back to college if you went, you remember being a freshman and in whatever level, you didn't have much of a clue. You were just there trying to figure it out. You're a super newbie and, um, it's one of the things that I've thought about and I've become a little bit more patient now that I'm in my forties [I'm 41 now]. And, giving some thought to how patience plays a role in how we visualize our progress. Because truthfully, when you're impatient with your progress, that can be just the thing that gets people to quit...
