Reach for the stars with your feet on the ground
Reach within for the peace you haven't found,
The clamour and the din will not die down
Peer within, listen to the inner sound.
No one knows you better than yourself
Whatever be your power and your mortal pelf,
There's a child within you seeking expression
Constantly, so, occasionally, do play the elf.
Never shun those urges of your childhood
You're made of emotions and not of wood,
Oceans, we know, are vast and deep, but
They play with the shores and feel jolly good.
We've, sadly, forgotten the purpose of life
As lives we lead on the edge of a knife,
Time to reflect and to retrospect
Does the pace of our lives cause us strife?
When did we last greet sunrise?
With glorious sunsets, please our eyes,
Look at the trees and speak with the birds
Dream with the stars, get lost in the skies.
Don't blame anyone, it's for you to choose
To be with yourself or in the news,
To think for yourself and those close to you
Learn to be patient and not blow your fuse.
It's one life you get so make the most of it
There will be dark nights but also those brightly lit,
When time is beyond the ripened fruit
We need to have with us a gathering kit
To weave together the life we've led
Then ponder all we've done and said,
Fondly remember and, cuddlingly, cherish
The memories of choice and, banish the dread.
Dwell, occasionally, in the past
For, nothing's meant to, forever, last,
It's a stage said the Bard and we the actors
And, there's no certainty to tomorrow's cast.
