The song of life is not a sad song
Though sadness may well be a part of it
Paths you walk may well be dark
Unless they are, by moonlight, lit.
‘Two sides of the coin’ is an idiom old
Heads or tails, that is the choice
Coin-spinning has two results:
Joy on one side, then a mournful voice.
Tears will flow, both sad and happy
Though they’re not quite the same
Little to choose between
Devil and saint Like infamy, stardom, and fame.
Perhaps, best the one who, dreamily, slumbers
Away from the world’s traumatic stage
Counting neither hours nor numbers
Wisely called a, sapient sage.
Roses strewn across the gardens
Also lie on many a grave
Today’s master who rules the roost
Could, tomorrow, be your slave.
Life, indeed, is a mystery
If you try to unravel it
Let the knots be where they are
Skip around them, bit by bit.
Happy you shall, mostly, be
Less morose for sure
If you decide to, quite simply
The unhappiness part, ignore.
This life belongs to you alone
You, the rightful owner
So do with it what you will
No harm if you’re labelled, a ‘loner’.
Then, go it alone all the way
Till you are no more
Footprints on the sands of time
Will, one day, leave the shore.
