Why does no one think of this
I often wonder, I do, Ashok,
Are we lost in our Ivory Towers
Blinded by lure of the “golden” cloak.
Ban this and prohibit that
And, outlaw everything,
Teach the Nightingale, if you will
To your own silly song, sing.
Lay down rules for each knows best
What others can and cannot do,
Two sides to the coin, we all know that
Yours a fake, mine True.
So, why did no one think of this
And, institute eternal bliss,
Why did no one see the “light”
And, give “Peace” a welcome kiss.
Why did no one “Ban Wars”
Why go after taverns and stores,
Why do we sell “conscience “ folks
Why fight like squabbling whores.
Open our eyes, see the light of day
And, live our lives peacefully,
Pass a Bill or Ordinance bring
To stop the “horrors” gracefully.
Yes, what’s true of Poetry is true of Life,
It’s all about rhyming, go ask your wife,
And, fellows you know better than I do
Just go there, live happily, avoid strife
So, let’s ban “Wars”, let the evenings be
If there’s courage around show it “ leaders”,
Ban, not declare what’s injurious to health
You’re “wise” not, dubiously, helpless “pleaders”.
