February is a month of our movie Valentines. Beth has been in love with this film forever, Sam compares it to a fine wine (it grows more complex, robust, and delicious with time). Jackie Brown has everything: flashes of QTโs witty streetwise rapid dialogue, a great heist flick with twists and turns thanks to Elmore Leonardโs novel RUM PUNCH โthe filmโs source material, and compelling characters so well drawn that you might find yourself even rooting for the bad guy. The cherry on top is an unexpected romance conveyed deftly and sincerely through wonderful performances by Pam Grier and Robert Forster. We think itโs Quentin Tarantinoโs finest film. Lots of great reminisces, and side discussions in this episode. Tarantino will have you glued to your seat from the dazzling open sequence until the final credits. โ๐พThis is actually a panel discussion with Tarantino and the cast from Django Unchained--another film we'd love to do sometime. We're including it here since we do reference and note some of the controversy surrounding Tarantino's use of language in Jackie Brown. Here, Tarantino explains his stance, and cast members--including Samuel L. Jackson--weigh in. https://youtu.be/-1QpScB-HJg Bobby Womack โAcross 110th Streetโ https://youtu.be/UOg_8hCC4u4 https://linktr.ee/celluloidpuddingpodcast
