Tu ne jab ai aftaab sham’a e mehfil ko bujhaya
Tab main ne dil jala kar apna mehfil ko sajaya
Zamaane ki to fitrat hai hona tah o baala
Haathon ko mal mal kar main ne mustaqbil ko banaya
Sunta hun main khutbe vaaiz waqt ba waqt magar
Samajh to wohi aaya khud jo dil ko samjhaya
Taraasha main ne pathhar ko gulon se baaraha
Phir sang dil ko badi muskhil se narm dil banaya
Jaanta hai reton ko woh tufaanon ko bhi sahil
Gham apne pi kar main ne ‘sahil’ ko hansaya
