Description

No jokes in this intro. We are currently seeing the culmination of 50 years of extremists attacks on Roe v. Wade with a leaked decision from Justice Alito, promising to tear up women's rights to control their own body. Not only that, this decision attacks the rights to privacy in nearly every way, from healthcare all the way to whether a married couple can use birth control. No, I'm not kidding and yes, it is that dire.

To lighten the mood a touch, we look at what one real experience of abortion looks like by digging into the 2014 darling indie comedy Obvious Child. Jenny Slate is "a damn delight" in the words of Jesse, and masterfully blends humor and apprehension, pathos and poop jokes. And who knows, if everyone watched it we might just have the empathy necessary to stop ruining women's lives.
