Peter is about to call us to make every effort, the other side of the partnership we introduced in week 1. But first he makes clear that this is a response on our part – ‘in view of all this’ – in view of the faith God put in our hearts, in view of his grace and kindness, in view of his provision and promises, how shall we respond? That’s the tone, lest we read the following list of urgings as a series of demands. Plant your roots deep lay into faith, Peter says, and watch as these 7 virtues grow and produce fruit, reaching up to love as the crowning glory of the Christian life.
