Last year, Kate Acton, LPC, NCC, and I got together to discuss what mental illness is not, and how it's being used as a scapegoat for larger, systemic issues that lead to gun violence in the United States.
This episode was recorded following the Uvalde, TX tragedy, so we could put in words what we were thinking and feeling about the loss and lack of movement in making changes in our country to protect our children.
Here we are again with another fatal shooting of tiny humans and adult workers in a school, this time in Nashville, TN. I implore each of you to listen to Kate's powerful words as she describes What Mental Illness is Not, how we can be intentional about the verbiage we use when discussing mass shootings and mental health concerns, and ways we can be more proactive in bringing attention to the issues.
