Today, those of us who are brave enough to risk our lives gathering with unvaccinated family and friends will celebrate the end of a challenging year -- and ring in a new year that is brimming with positive potential, should we choose to embrace it.
Of course, that's not what the headlines would have us believe. Consider this:
- CNN is quick to remind us, that despite the oppressive government mandates, this year is ending in darkness, because more people are dying than ever before.
- Other apocalyptic news sources are claiming even the most careful people cannot escape the threat of Omicron -- just a whiff of infected breath may destroy your life!
- In a contradictory tone, other experts are warning we may be on the verge of over-vaccinating the human population. Some are floating the novel concept the the less-severe Omicron may in fact boost natural immunity.
- Even more revealing, data from the NHS has shown that over 56% of people recorded as "hospitalized with covid" had gone to the hospital for other reasons.
The slant and spin are predictable. The purpose is to control people with fear. But, when we examine the situation under the lens of logic and commonsense, we can see through the shenanigans and still catch a glimmer of hope for the future.
