"This is not about freedom."

Joe Biden's voice has been ringing through the Democrat echo-chamber, and seeping into the utter void of rational thought amongst liberal pundits. Consider these quotes:

• "This is not about freedom or personal choice. It’s about protecting yourself and those around you," the president said in prepared remarks.
• "I love how people talk about personal freedom. If your exercising personal freedom puts someone else in jeopardy, their health in jeopardy, I don't consider that being very, dealing with freedom." Not only does this sound incoherent, it is flies in the face of logic.
• Mocking people for making medical choice a political issue, Biden snarks: “‘I have the freedom to kill you with my Covid,’ I mean come on, freedom."

I want to pick these statements apart line-by-line, and tear into the underlying ideology, but first, let's get a baseline for an old fashioned American perspective:

"[Sometimes] in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another... to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them..."

The Declaration of Independence expresses self-evident truths, that we are all endowed with certain inalienable rights, that among those are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness.
