This week is the second part of our two part sleep series. Last week we talked about the basics of sleep including how sleep is generated, benefits of sleep, detriments of sleep deprivation, and tips to getting better sleep. This week we talk about dreaming and the mysteries of REM sleep, some scary sleep diseases, sleep in different animals, the history of sleep, and the future of sleep. Most of the information he got was from Matthew Walker's book "Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams". Again from last week the top sleep advice is as follows:
1. Stick to a sleep schedule
2. Exercise but not too late
3. Avoid caffeine and nicotine
4. Avoid alcohol before bed
5. Avoid large meals and beverages late at night
6. Avoid medicines that delay or disrupt your sleep
7. Don't take naps after 3 pm
8. Relax before bed
9. Take a hot bath before bed
10. Dark, cool, gadget-free bedroom
11. Have sunlight exposure during the day
12. Don't lie in bed awake
