Hello Humans! Welcome to the third show housed in “The Human Theatre”: Part 1 of “What My Anorexia Needed to Know”.
The major points discussed in this episode are:
- The detrimental side effects of being too underweight: higher mortality, cardiac arrest, osteoporosis, osteopenia, loss of libido, hair loss, amenorrhea (loss of your menstrual cycle), insomnia, depression, anxiety, hallucinations, infertility and gut permeability, just to name a few)
- Being healthy IS COOL!
- The brain is made up of 60% fat, therefore, restricting healthy fat sources in fear of calories was detrimental to my health; psychologically and physically!
- The body is an OPEN system, so applying the notion that it’s all about calories in and calories out is too simplistic of a notion to apply to the exquisite complexity of our Human bodies.
- You can take accountability how you respond and react in the world through your breath alone! You can utilize your breath, through various breathing techniques, to put you in a parasympathetic (rest & digest) to sympathetic (fight, flight) state, depending on your respective requirements.
- Educating oneself about how the body works and what the body is made up of is PROFOUND in de-mystifying mental health.
- You cannot address your software (Psychology) if your hardware (Physiology) is not functioning optimally.
- How you live your life day-to-day directly impacts your state of health and state of being. Genetics load the gun, lifestyle pulls the trigger.
- And finally; health is not a passive state. Becoming empowered in knowledge and self-awareness is a HUGE part of the puzzle that too many people overlook!
