Mary Dague is an American hero and legitimate badass. She is a former Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist and veteran of the Global War on Terror. In 2007, Mary and her team were recovering an IED in Iraq when the bomb exploded, taking both of Mary’s arms. For this, Mary earned a Purple Heart. In our conversation, Mary talks about her time in Iraq, what it was like being injured, and the struggles she had when she returned home.
