Your everyday life may feel busy and full (even loud & chaotic!) as you juggle daily demands and the outside voices that tell you what you should eat, how you should look, what to wear and who you should be.
It can be hard to find our center and a community that truly nourish our bodies, mind and souls.
That’s why I asked Alicia Michelsen to share her deep wisdom that comes from the Wise Woman tradition, one that embraces the Earth, local plants and weeds, deep nourishment, creating strong communities and self love.
Our conversation ranged from how to tend to our bodies, our land and to each other - especially when we face criticism for the sacred work we are doing. And Alicia’s ranges from midwifery to herbalism to community-supported education to spiritual agriculture to sex ed to social justice and equity.
About Alicia Michelsen:
Alicia Michelsen is a village herbalist in the Wise Woman Tradition. For over 20 years Alicia has been growing medicinal herbs, making plant medicines, and teaching students of all ages how to enjoy the bounty of the green nations.
Currently, she is the Director of The Learning Council (thelearningcouncil.org) an educational non-government organization, utilizing the Gift Model for community-supported education, and sits on the board of Viva la Vida, a foundation for developing spiritual agriculture in the traditions of Biodynamic and Trinium methods (vivalavida.org).
Alicia is a Sexual Health Educator and advocate, runs the TLC Kitchen, and curates community events and educational opportunities with a focus on Social Justice and Equity.
Mother of three boys, Alicia has worked in Waldorf inspired education since 2000 and brought two groups of students through the elementary grades.
