The thumb is the captain of the
other fingers. He Leads them to
battle. He bears the weight of the
bar but can only do so with the
support of his team. The thumb is
not making a sacrifice. It is merely
showing his squad that he is willing
to put his life on the line for each of
his men. This display of courage
boost overall morale of the whole
squad leading to more successful
missions than compared to the
squad where the thumb hides
behind his men while they fight for
their lives.
