Alex Coley & Afterlove came to be in a sad song shared between friends at a party, eventually leading to a musical exploration that developed into their six-person sound. Since recording at Conquerall Music, Alex Coley & Afterlove have celebrated a handful of sold out shows including their debut at the Duckworth Barn in March of 2023 and a sold out show at the Carleton in Halifax, Nova Scotia in November 2023. Since releasing music in October of 2023, Alex Coley & Afterlove have accumulated more than 80K streams on Spotify alone, as well as achieving spins through CBC Radio; with their first single deeming them as a “Canadian outfit (who) deliver a wonderfully warm and shimmering slice of folk-pop gold” by Mystic Sons.
Debuting alongside The Arc is their focus track “Hold It All” — a vocally and lyrically powerful song about the anger, blame, and guilt that comes with heartbreak. “Hold It All” is about a moment of release, an unburdening of the weight that holds us down - a recognition that blame doesn’t belong to just one person. Showcasing Alex Coley & Afterlove’s mixed influence and inspiration for The Arc, “Hold It All” was written for the band, highlighting Alex’s confessional songwriting and the band’s musicianship. “Hold It All” will feature a supporting music video directed by Connor Robins, assisted by John Walsh and Jo Ciarrocco, which will be released on their Youtube channel on March 6th 2024.
