🎶 East Coast DNA Presents: A Conversation with Mike Campbell - The Vision Behind HUFF & His Legacy in Canadian Music 🎶

In this special episode, East Coast DNA host Darcy Walsh sits down with the legendary Mike Campbell—former MuchMusic VJ and founder of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival (HUFF). Mike shares stories from his early days as a VJ, helping shape Canada's music culture on MuchMusic, and his pivotal role in supporting Canadian independent artists. He also dives into his lifelong dedication to fostering the East Coast music scene, including the opening of The Carleton—a renowned venue in Halifax that has become a cornerstone for live music in HRM.

As the visionary behind HUFF, now celebrating its 15th edition (September 30 – October 6, 2024), Mike talks about how the festival showcases the best of local, national, and international singer-songwriters, highlighting the power of storytelling through music. This year's lineup features incredible talent, including Adam Baldwin, Rose Cousins, Alejandro Escovedo, Lucy MacNeil, Jimmy Rankin, and Reeny.

In addition to the performances at The Carleton, the festival will present events at other venues: Rankin MacInnis at The Basement on October 3, NOBRO at The Marquee on October 4, and SIGSOUR with Fluke and The Orchids at RadStorm on October 5 for an all-ages show. With performances at multiple venues, HUFF continues to be a hub for authentic musical experiences.

Join us as we explore Mike’s impact on the Canadian music landscape, from his days interviewing rock legends to shaping the East Coast music scene through HUFF and The Carleton.
