Halifax indie pop-singer Psiren played a special live show with a full band at Radstorm on Thursday, April 18th, to celebrate the release of his new single "Anhedonia"!
Psiren (he/him) is a queer, independent singer, rapper, & producer, presenting thoughtful, passionate, jazz-infused pop and hip-hop vocals over dreamy synths, smooth electric keys, grooving basslines, and funky, hard-hitting drum breaks. His lyrics are emotionally honest, and open about sensitive personal and political topics, such as living with mental illness, queer experiences, class struggle, and personal identity in the digital age.
Since 2018, Psiren has released five EPs (with his most recent EP “Hope” released this past December), seven original singles, and a cover of Mazzy Star’s “Into Dust.” Psiren has also appeared on “We’re in It Together” (Rich Aucoin), “Me 2 U” (Tuker Lucy), “The Bitter End” (Wash This Garden With Blood), and has produced two songs for the Buffy-nominated Caius Hubris– “Diamond Hands” and “Someday.”
“Anhedonia” explores what it’s like to go through the motions while trying desperately to cling to small sources of joy and relief, as they become less and less effective. At its core, It’s a song about asking yourself if you need to make a change.
Recorded/co-produced by Riley Lloyd, mixed by John Fraser Longley. Recording musicians include Liam MacNeil (Crystal Stares, Acid Wash and (formerly) Drop the Formality), Josh Stewart (Crystal Stares, Acid Wash and The Thaumaturge), Saylor Walker (IDialedYourNumber and Saylor Moon), Will Mulligan, Rho Centurion and River Gosney.
