Welcome to episode 20 of Paths in the Outdoors podcast, this episode we talk to Alex Roddie, who tells about his love of long distance routes in the UK and abroad. He also explains how he uses his time in the mountains to create the narrative of his writing.

He also is the editor for Sidetracked magazine and gear reviewer for TGO magazine. If that’s not enough he has written numerous guidebooks and novels. His most recent the book, The Farthest Shore about walking the Cape Wrath Trail is available via Vertebrate Publishing.

Alex tells us how he has shaped his work around being in the outdoors, we met him in Fort William whilst he was training for a big trail this year and working remotely. The day included a walk up the Pap of Glencoe.
