Brain Wave states: 

Beta: This is the level where most people's brain waves are most of the time. It is associated with concentration, learning, and everyday tasks.

Alpha: Associated with relaxation and reflection.

Theta: Associated with dreaming and vivid imagining.

Delta: Associated with accelerated healing and deep relaxation. In this state, we may lose consciousness of the body and may not remember; this level is associated with deep states of sleep and meditation.

Gamma: Once the brain has slowed down into the deepest levels of Delta, the brain does something extraordinary and unexpected; it actually dramatically speeds up the brain waves to be many times faster then Beta. This state is associated with expanded awareness and insight. This state is mainly achieved by avid meditators such as monks.
