Brandon has his long time friend, Derek, in the studio to talk about his history in the car audio industry. Growing up with a car-loving father that was a senior engineer at IBM, Derek was destined for great things. One of the first electronics projects Derek built was a radio jammer. While he was learning, Derek admits to making a lot of mistakes, and even starting a couple fires. He eventually found some really good people that mentored him, and taught him the proper way to do things.
Derek was a good fabricator, but a great troubleshooter. He was noticing that a lot of car audio was focused on looks and volume, but lacked sound quality. As cars progressed, car audio became more complex, but Derek rose to the occasion. Starting with sweeping floors, Derek worked his way up to VP of a manufacturing company. Surviving a recession and Covid, Derek has proven to have great business sense.
