A Letter to Those Who Struggle with Mental Illness
In this raw and deeply personal episode, I reflect on the heartbreaking loss of Liam Payne and how his passing has affected me and so many others. For those of us who grew up as part of the One Direction fandom, this feels like losing someone we’ve known and loved for years. I talk about the pressure public figures face to make statements in times of grief, and why we need to show more compassion and understanding.
But this episode is more than just a tribute to Liam. It's a letter to everyone who struggles with mental illness, including myself. I open up about my own battles with depression, anxiety, and body dysmorphia. From immigrating to Miami from Cuba at a young age, to feeling like an outcast, to finding a sense of belonging in unexpected places, I share my journey in navigating these challenges. I also reflect on the critical role my sister has played in helping me through my darkest moments and how we can support those we love who are silently struggling.
This conversation is for anyone who has ever felt lost, alone, or tired of fighting. It's a reminder that you're not alone, and even in the most difficult times, there are people who love you and need you here. This episode is for the angels we've lost, for the battles we continue to fight, and for the moments when we need to hold on just a little longer.
We’ll be alright—together.
