A few things to note:
Genesis chapter 3 is a pivotal chapter in God's word. Here, Even is tempted of the Devil, eats of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. That alone was a horrible act from mankind, but Adam too ate of the Tree. The fellowship that they once enjoyed in the "cool of the day", was now reduced to hiding in the bushes and playing hide and seek with God.
Chapter 4 too describes an act that still today we see too many times. Murder of course can be described here, but jealousy among brothers. Because Cain's offering was not accepted in the same way that Abel's was, he was "wroth" and in this wrath he plotted and eventually killed his brother. Men and women are still plotting to kill those whom God honors because of their sacrifice. Jealousy is a dark sin, in it, men and women will do the unthinkable even to the ones they love the most.
Chapter 5 like Matthew chapter 1 gives us a genealogy of Adam. Be careful not to overlook these names. If you take the time to study these men and their lines you may find some very important happenings. It may be an entire people that became enemies of God or the oldest man that ever lived.
Matthew 2 We have that family story of the wise men visiting the baby Jesus. Personally, I believe Jesus was around 2 years old at this time. God protected Joseph, Mary, and Jesus once again by hiding them from Herod.
