In this episode of the Life with Francy Podcast, Francy interviews Kattie, a former meth addict who shares her journey from a dysfunctional home to finding a supportive community that helped her maintain sobriety. Kattie grew up in a home where both her parents were addicted to meth, and she was exposed to the drug at a young age. She witnessed the negative effects of addiction and knew that she didn't want to follow in her parents' footsteps.
After being arrested at 19, Kattie realized that she needed to make a change in her life. She went on to become a counselor for high-risk populations and remained sober for several years. However, she experienced a relapse and was arrested on federal charges, which led to a three-year prison sentence. During her time in prison, Kattie finally began to accept help from those around her and found a loving, supportive community that helped her maintain wellness.
Today, Kattie is married with a young son and two Great Danes. She works as a peer coach and supervisor, where she is able to give back and help others who are struggling with addiction. Kattie sees the best in her members, even when they can't see it themselves, and is grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives.
