Shalom! This week, we delved into the captivating Parshah Vayetze, found in Genesis 28:10–32:3, titled "Vayetze" meaning "And he left." This Torah portion takes us on a journey with Jacob as he leaves Beersheba for Charan, experiencing a divine vision of angels and a ladder to heaven, and receiving God's promise of land and blessings for his descendants. You can listen to our drashes and Torah reading in the video below. We got a minyan in the middle of the parsha reading, which is why we didn't take out the Torah in the beginning).
In Charan, Jacob's life takes unexpected turns as he navigates family, love, and deception with his uncle Laban. He marries Leah and Rachel, and fathers twelve children who form the tribes of Israel. Amidst trials and Laban's deceit, Jacob's faith and determination shine through, leading to his eventual prosperous return journey to the Holy Land, where he is greeted by angels.
