Jon Heidt is an associate professor of criminology at the University of the Fraser Valley in British Columbia, Canada. He completed his B.A. in sociology from the University of Montana and his Ph.D. in criminology from Simon Fraser University in 2012. His doctoral dissertation, entitled The Evolution of Criminological Theories, passed with no revisions and was awarded a dean’s medal. He has been studying criminological theories for over 15 years and has taught a variety of courses at different academic institutions in British Columbia. He has co-authored a textbook from Sage Publications called Introducing Criminological Thinking: Maps, theories, and understanding and is a contributor to the best-selling Understanding Crime in Canada textbook (edited by Professor Neil Boyd). His work has appeared in The Journal of Theoretical and Philosophical Criminology, Critical Criminology, The International Journal of Criminology and Sociological Theory, and The Encyclopedia of Criminology and Criminal Justice.]
