The Petit Family of Cheshire, Connecticut was well known in the community for being accomplished individuals. William Petit, the father, worked as an endocrinologist, and mother Jennifer Hawke-Petit, was an oncology nurse, had two smart daughters- Hayley (17) and Michaela (11). Each girl was known for their intelligence, their kindness, and their drive to help the community.
On the evening of Sunday, July 22, 2007, 48-year-old Jennifer and her daughter, Michaela, went to a local grocery store in They picked up food for a family dinner Michaela planned to prepare.During their trip to the grocery store, Komisarjevsky noticed and took interest in them, proceeding to follow them home. Prosecutors argued at the trial that Komisarjevsky (kom-i-sar-jev-sky)?? was motivated by money and his interest in Michaela.
