The ancient Roman system of executing slaves and criminals by means of crucifixion was the most severe form of capital punishment that was never carried out on their own citizens. Today's Daily Devotional brings to light the hatred that the Jews had for Jesus that made them hand Him over to the Romans for crucifixion even when He was not a criminal.
