Description

A western short story.  Set in the 1880s, in "The Neutral Strip," (as the Oklahoma Panhandle was called by many at them time), an outlaw named Flint Haugan is on the run from a persistent Bounty-Hunter...or so he thinks.  At every turn, this mysterious stranger, and uncommon bad luck, follow Flint like a shadow.  Flint learns that a man cannot outrun his fate, but his purpose is always larger than one can imagine.  Death may be made to wait on God's purpose.  Something as simple as killing a rattlesnake might shape the grand affairs of mankind and alter the course of history for generations.
