On today’s episode of the Soul Connection Duo Podcast, we interview Kathy McDaniel about her distressing, yet also blissful near-death experience (NDE). Kathy is the author of her memoir, "Misfit in Hell to Heaven Expat" and has since been sharing her experience with other IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies) members, and with people around the world to bring awareness.
During this episode, Kathy shares part of her NDE story which occurred in 1999, when she was placed on a ventilator and into a drug-induced coma following an illness that left her dying from lung failure. She explains how various "hellish" experiences during her time on Earth, suddenly became the scenarios she experienced in Hell. Determined to find her way out of Hell, Kathy later found herself being greeted into Heaven by a loved one that had recently passed away from leukemia. While sharing her beautiful experience in Heaven, Kathy gets emotional talking about the immense light and love she felt while she was there, as well as the utter despair and anger she experienced when her soul re-entered her human body as she awoke in the ICU, completely paralyzed and unable to verbalize what had just happened.
Kathy explains how she views everythingin life from a different perspective since her NDE, including her religious and spiritual beliefs. She shares some of the fulfilling experiences that she's been able to have since, which include volunteering with the dying in Hospice and witnessing some of the beautiful last moments before her father's passing. She also talks about the importance of having empathy for others during times of suffering and loss. Kathy truly believes that we plan out our lives, the events that take place (no matter how challenging they may be), and how the difficult lessons are the ones that teach us the most, and are oftentimes reserved for the "brave souls".
