Description

"To survive painful and traumatic experiences, we tend to turn-off the switch that allows us to freely receive love. We don’t trust others to meet our needs; therefore, we convince ourselves that demonstrations of love toward us are unnecessary, undesirable, and ineffective, especially in those areas we have the most negative experiences. This becomes problematic in relationships because we then reject other’s attempts to show us love while constantly struggling with feelings of being unloved." In Episode 3, Dr. Drea encourages us to acknowledge the ways we've rejected being loved, and allow others to love us, using the Five Love Languages. She also explores how intergenerational trauma is a major factor for Black people as it relates to experiencing giving and receiving love.
