Scott Burrell and Steve Karsay first met as teenagers on the baseball diamond. All the way back to St. Catharines, Ontario Canada. As draft picks of the Toronto Blue Jays, Scott and Steve played and roomed together, in the Low-A New York Penn League.
Little did the teammates and friends know where their life journeys would take! Scott Burrell, in addition to being originally a 1st round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners, was also a 1st round pick of the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA. A two-sport player, Scott Burrell played college hoops at UConn while also playing minor ball for the Blue Jays for 2 seasons.
After starting his basketball career with the Hornets, Scott Burrell was later traded to the Golden State Warriors and then the Chicago Bulls to play in the magical Last Dance season.
Steve Karsay, after playing through the Blue Jays organization, was traded to the Oakland A's where he started his own brilliant MLB career.
