Phrase of the Day/ Definition: Bridle your tongue – to restrain, check, or control your words. Stats:  Onedeterminedlife.com Words can be used to build or to destroy. They are extremely powerful, and there’s 4 ways to help tame your tongue. Here’s 4 ways the Bible says you can tame your tongue.1. Check our hearts; we need to pray and watch what we say and it’s in the glory of the Lord. Somethings that may sound encouraging in our ears comes across as hurtful to the receiver. 2. Pray; we can pray that we would get out of the way and allow God to work. God wants to work through us, but it’s important that we rid ourselves of pride first. 3. Listen; actively listening does not mean we are only halfway listening. Instead of thinking about what our response will be – listen to what they are saying. 4. Curve your tongue; remember the golden rule. Ask yourself “Is what I’m trying to say true, noble, or helpful?” “Will it encourage or discourage?” Choose your words carefully, aim to bless and not to harm.  Scripture:  Proverbs 15:1-4 1. A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. 2. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly. 3. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. 4. A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
