Who are you and why is life so hard? This is the fundamental question that we are asking as we launch into the book of 1 Peter. Peter identifies us as foreigners and yet we are chosen. The problem for us comes when we forget either of those truths. To live in the grace and peace of God we must remember that our identity is chosen and holy children of God and as children of God our experience in this world will always be a foreign one. In this life suffering, rejection and homesickness are to be expected but a future hope awaits us.
