Co 12, INTRO: The Corth. Ch was a young, immature body. They had no church heritage, experience, they had come straight out of the world. They were growing, developing, maturing in spiritual matters. They were babies in everything. Clueless about what Ch should be like. So now all the egghead theologians have taught a powerless gospel. So that now in the US the Ch is programmed but powerless. Fads run thru the Ch. One of those fads is how to grow a ch. quickly by using canned/programed services that let people feel comfortable but with no conviction. Using lights, videos, multiple canned services that run on one hr. schedules; simply programs the power of the HS out of their worship experience. Bible commentators have belittled the Corinthian ch and its perceived immaturity. Downplaying the use of the power of Godand spiritual gifts as necessary for today’s ch. Sayingthat the Corth. Ch. was out of order as would any ch. like that would be today. Therefor while 85% of Ch’s worldwide, operate in the gifts and encourage everyone to pray in tongues, in the US it is reversed. So how do we grow this ch? By getting back to the power and staying away from programs. PROP: Spiritual gifts are a must for today’s ch.
