Welcoming a new year in Honesdale Borough and a renewed effort to work together to serve the best interests of the community, newly-sworn Mayor Derek Williams oversaw the organization of Honesdale Borough Council Monday evening which takes place every two years.
“Participating in community affairs is a big deal and makes a huge difference,” stated Mayor Williams addressing both those in attendance and the council. “There are many ways to participate. Representing, working for, engaging in, and listening to borough business are absolutely vital forces that make our neighborhoods more resilient.”
Council has two newcomers* and two returning members beginning four-year terms in addition to Mayor Williams.
Council’s first order of business was to appoint president, vice president and president pro temp. Hamill, Jason Newbon and McAllister were nominated for the posts respectively and were subsequently elected to serve in those roles. Further business conducted included the following:
