Content Warning: Snakes and conversations relating to the violence against animals
Episode Description: Science Communicator and Scientist Laura Kojima comes on the to share stories of community engagement around snakes in the West and South with varying results.
In their own words: Hi I'm Laura! I am currently a wildlife biologist with a passion for the conservation of reptiles and amphibians. I am particularly interested in how contaminants introduced in our environment affect the health of these creatures and what we can do as scientists to improve their conditions. I am currently doing a PhD graduate degree at UC Davis studying threats of survival of the giant gartersnake, a snake only found in the Central Valley of California. Some of these threats include loss of habitat and exposure to pesticides since the snake occurs in areas where rice crop is grown. It is my hope to keep doing work not only to help these animals out, but also to help people learn more about them as well!
