My guest on today's episode is Elizabeth Hernandez Hanna
Elizabeth Hernandez Hanna was born and raised in Wilmington, CA. She is the proud daughter of immigrant parents. She is the writer of Beyond the Broken Gates™. A true and raw testimony outlining her past life as a stripper and an illicit drug user- followed by a trajectory of transformation through education, faith and a re-discovery of self. She recounts her earliest memories of joy, trauma, and the life changing decisions she made that led her to live a scandalous life. Professionally, Elizabeth serves as the Director for TRIO Student Support Services at CSU, Dominguez Hills. TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education and it is designed to support the academic and personal needs of underrepresented populations. Additionally, she sits on the Board of Directors for the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, is an active member of the Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel, and a dedicated member of United Wilmington Youth Foundation. As a first-generation, low income student and the first in her family to earn a couple of college degrees, Elizabeth is very familiar with the barriers that first generation and low income students face on a daily basis. Her passion lies in supporting and inspiring students like herself to navigate the college system and develop the next generation of leaders.
