Welcome to this week's episode of DingoTalk! In this episode, we delve into the exciting journey of Scott Lemn, who is entering his third season as head coach of the Bridgewater College football team in 2023.
Last season, Lemn's squad showcased their prowess with a remarkable 9-2 record, making their first-ever appearance in the Neptune Bowl in Virginia Beach. Their impressive performance earned them recognition, receiving votes in the D3football.com national top 25 poll.
Bridgewater's offense was firing on all cylinders, averaging nearly 34 points per game, the highest since their championship season in 2019. Nine players from the team received All-ODAC honors, with three being recognized as all-region honorees.
Among the standouts were Jack Hendren, who earned the title of All-American, and Garrett Graves, who secured Specialist of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond and VaSID. Additionally, Aaron Nice was crowned State Defense Rookie of the Year, as voted by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.
The Eagles didn't stop there, achieving a pair of national statistical championships with their kickoff unit leading all of Division III in returns and return man Brendan Robinson topping the individual average list in the nation. Their defense was also dominant, reaching the top of various NCAA categories throughout the season.
But Scott Lemn's journey with the Eagles began even before he became head coach. He spent 11 years as an assistant, serving in different roles, including two years as offensive coordinator. Under his guidance, the team achieved significant milestones, with a notable victory against Gettysburg during the 2021 season.
Before joining Bridgewater, Lemn's coaching career kicked off at conference rival Randolph-Macon. Prior to that, he excelled as a first-team All-American at James Madison in 2008, winning the prestigious Rimington Award for being the nation's top center and helping the Dukes to a FCS semifinal appearance and a No.1 ranking.
Currently, Lemn resides in Bridgewater with his wife Rachel and four children, making him an integral part of the community.
In this episode, we'll explore Lemn's coaching journey, the team's incredible achievements, and what lies ahead for the Bridgewater College football team in the 2023 season. So don't miss out on this exciting discussion!
