He is the winningest coach in program history and has coached numerous players to All-NJAC and All-American selections.
Throughout his 17 seasons at Kean, the Cougars have won 82 games, achieved their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, and secured NJAC Championships. Coach Garrett's dedication and leadership have elevated the team to new heights, making Kean University a force to be reckoned with in football.
In the Fall of 2021, Coach Garrett was named NJAC Co-Coach of the Year, and the team boasted 10 All-NJAC selections, including notable players like Donte Jamison and Kyeon Taylor, who earned All-American honors.
Coach Garrett's impact extends beyond wins and losses, as he has nurtured many student-athletes, with numerous All-Conference selections and players receiving awards like Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Notably, the 2011 season was a highlight, with the Cougars winning the NJAC title and earning their first NCAA playoffs appearance. Garrett's efforts were recognized with NJAC Coach of the Year honors.
