J.R. Drake's coaching journey showcases a stellar rise within Lebanon Valley's football program. He assumed the role of head coach in 2023 after proving his mettle as the defensive coordinator. Under his guidance, the 2021 defensive unit achieved historical success, ranking top 10 nationally in pass efficiency defense and passing yards allowed, and placing in the top 50 among 244 NCAA Division III teams.

In the past four seasons, Drake developed eight All-Conference players and fostered Logan Grauer, named a special teams All-American in 2019. Notably, the Dutchmen excelled in various areas under his tutelage, leading in kickoff returns and blocked kicks in 2018, 2019, and securing high rankings in turnovers, interceptions, and sacks in 2019.

With an 11-year tenure at LVC, Drake's multifaceted contributions as defensive coordinator, co-special teams coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and academic coordinator have propelled the Dutchmen to their first postseason game since 2013, including the program's first bowl game in 11 years.

Before rejoining LVC, Drake honed his coaching skills at Louisburg College and Anderson University. Notably, at Louisburg, he contributed to a No. 4 overall defense ranking in the nation in 2014. His initial stint at LVC from 2009-2012 saw him as the assistant wide receivers coach, aiding the team to three ECAC Bowl appearances and two victories.

Having been a wide receiver for LVC from 2007-2009 and part of the ECAC-Bowl winning season in 2009, Drake brings a deep connection to the program. Currently residing in Enola, Pa., he is a proud father to his children, Oakley and Jett.
