"Welcome to this week's episode where we are excited to be joined by OAC Commissioner Sarah Otey! Sara is a former college basketball player and graduate of Washington and Lee University. She also holds a Master of Education in exercise physiology from the University of Virginia.
Sarah began her career in intercollegiate athletics at Hollins University before moving on to the NCAA, where she spent four and a half years as the director of student-athlete reinstatement. In that role, she oversaw the NCAA team responsible for reinstating NCAA student-athletes following rules violations and for processing a variety of waivers related to student-athlete eligibility.
Currently, Sarah is the first female Commissioner of the Ohio Athletic Conference and only the second commissioner in conference history. In her role as Commissioner, she serves as the chief executive officer, facilitating all strategic and operational aspects of the highly competitive “SEC” of Division III.
In this episode, we'll be discussing Sarah's journey in intercollegiate athletics, her experience as the director of student-athlete reinstatement, and her current role as Commissioner of the Ohio Athletic Conference. Whether you're a sports fan or just interested in learning more about the world of intercollegiate athletics, you won't want to miss this episode.
