This week we stay in the PAC being joined by Westminster College Head Football Coach and fellow Plum Mustang Scott Benzel.
Graduating from Plum Senior High School in 1993. A defensive back Benzel made his way to northern PA attending Mercyhurst where he graduated with a BA in Marketing.
Coach Benzel walked away from football for a few years, but the itch remained. He started in coaching first in 2004 at Wittenberg as the Defensive Back coach.
Then over the next nine years he arrived in Moon Twp. As the DB Coach and co D-coordinator. Those Colonial teams were impressive. 2006 coaching a defense that held Rowan to -39 yards in a game. That Defense was the #1 defense in FCS that year.
Coach Benzel made his way to St. Francis of PA for two season as Defensive Coordinator/Associate Head Coach. Then it was time to take the next step of his coaching career becoming a head coach.
New Wilmington PA and the Westminster Titans was where he was given the opportunity. Over his nine years at the helm he has propelled the Titans to 56-24 (.700) ranking fourth among some legendary company of coaches.
